Our Artist of the week is Hip-co Rapper, Songwriter, Entrepreneur, Ambassador, and Social Reformer Jon Bricks.
Jon Bricks is a Liberian international musician based in Beijing-China. Born October 13. Bricks became recognized in Liberian music industry by mid-2006 when his first debut song “Just be there ” along with his crew New Dynasty on the Tom Holder Hip-co volume 2 Album.
The song became widely acclaimed in Liberia and its environs. It has remained a major slogan on the lips of many up till now. Bricks have also collaborated with artists locally and internationally.
He was then on their ever popular collabo called “Turn me on” Since then Bricks has been releasing Hits after Hits.
In 2010 Bricks released another hit song with MTV quality videos called “Keep Moving “. In 2011 Bricks released yet another popular song “Da Who” this song was a big open up for Afro-pop sound through rap for Liberia.
In 2012 Bricks collaborated with Ghana superstar Stay-Jay (The Shashe woo man) and Busta Pain on his hit called ” Wango (Give me that) Produced by Infectious Michael. In 2013 Bricks dropped another classical bomb called “OFF and ON” featuring Pity D’Best & Killa-lu . This song was an instant banger taking over every club, neighborhood, bar, radio station.
In 2014 he released the Asian remix of OFF and ON featuring Chinese superstar Zheng Zheng.
In 2015 Bricks returned with a mega concert after a few years of stay in China. In 2016 he again returned with an unforgettable sold-out concert called “The Diva Dream Alive concert” which took Zheng Zheng to Liberia. This was a very huge success and drew a lot of attention to Liberia show base.
The concert which was three days back-to-back events pulled thousands of fans from the clubs to its grand closure on the Bernard beach.
Where Bricks also launched his charity organization called “Zama Plus foundation International” an organization established by him to help the less privileged in society through food, education, etc.
In 2016 May/ June, he took a six countries tour in Europe to meet producers and music executives concerning his next international projects. While there he had the pleasure of shooting “Conqueror ” video in Italy produced and directed by Catia Tremacre.
Bricks have been nominated for numerous awards both home and abroad including the Liberian Entertainment Award (LEA) and Liberian Music Award (LMA). About a week ago he was appointed as Liberia new cultural Attaché and Music ambassador Asia Beijing. Follow and support this young man who is doing extremely well for the industry.
