Improving Your Creativity.

One important thing for every emerging artiste is to be artistically appealing you should seek ways to improve your Songwriting skills and ability to create good music.

Draw a routine where you’ll create consistently – committing maybe an hour every day, weekly, etc. Do not always wait to record or release music before creating. It should be a part of your core or life activities already.

Study the industry.

There are countless places where you can learn how the industry works as well as how to become a better performer. Some are free, some cost a little bit. About.com, CDBaby, Spotify, and many more of these services have free info about the industries as long as you are willing to make research.

Gaining 100-150 dedicated Fans/Listeners.

This is a challenge. Take it upon yourself to have at least 100 people who believe in you/your music and see by the end of the year you would be amazed. Other than chasing vanity, or metrics by asking anyone/everyone to “follow back”. You should give 100 persons a reason to bet on your music. They’ll tell others about you and followers will come. If you can do anything close to that, getting thousands won’t be a hassle.

Find a mentor

Finding a mentor is one of the best ideas. Successful people we see all around us today have a mentor. Someone who has gone far and is successful in this business. Network both within and outside the industry to find someone who believes in you and will help guide you to grow.

Read & educate yourself about music business

Personally, reading brings tremendous help. Success is rarely by chance. In today’s competitive artists who are likely to succeed are the ones who do the most. In making themselves stand out one way or the other by reading and reviewing the latest trends in the music business. It’ll help your personality in the industry.

Not everyone will make it as an artist or perusing anything take it or leave it, but the goals are to keep pushing.

Network.

Plug into the many music-related groups on LinkedIn and other resourceful sites and just read all of the advice. Some musicians tend to shield themselves from the world [when creating]. It is a lot about your ability to connect with others than your budget. Just as you make out time to work/create, make out time to network and in turn, collaborate. It could be by co-writing, lending backup vocals, etc.

Anything could spring up when you spend more time with your contemporaries. Conversations can provide better perspectives on your dealings – art and Business of music.

Master your craft.

If you sing or rap, be amazing at it. If you play guitar, dazzle crowds with your skill. Never stop improving. Even the most respected singers and musicians have coaches and work on improving or learning something new all of the time!

Find your uniqueness

What is it about you and/or the music that will set you apart from the vast sea of competition out there? Once you find it, develop your brand around it and just be happy about it.
